Husky WR500?

Could be a good project. If the 500 goes better than the water cooled WR400 it would fly.

I would ask for some close up photos of the water pump, both inside and out, as the cover is made of magnesium and suffers the same issues as CR Hondas of that era.

by the 86 models the clutch covers were aloooominum. replacements are available. café husky website has lots of husky info and Phil at husqvarnaparts.com has lots of parts and HVAfactory.com make all the bits phil cant get.

I'll qualify this by stating that I have never ridden one (I have a 400), from what I read, the 500 is quicker by a fair margin but vibrates like a paint mixer!

I rode a WR400 in the 90's and it was a magic bike that is still ingrained in my mind.

Sensational bike in the day. good suspension , marginal brakes , Easy to ride with plenty of power and ran well in nearly all conditions.
I would love to own it , but at the moment we have to many husky projects on the boil.

Who ever buys and restores it wont be disappointed

85 failed mag covers were replaced under warranty...knowing husky, the 86 engines were probably made in 85....

My '86 had a mag cover, I think they changed for '87?

has anyone bought that sucker?? there is a clip on youtube of a bloke with a similar 500 and he has just fitted an uptite pipe. she sounds good!
