'73 vs '74.5 Maico 400
« on: July 02, 2016, 10:38:22 PM »
Hi,

Can you mob set me straight on the major differences between a '73 and a '74.5 Maico 400? I know the shocks are moved forward on the '74.5. I have a suspicion the 73 has less travel in the forks and the gearbox is not as sturdy but I could be completely wrong.  :)

Any other significant differences?

Thanks, Ralph

You are wrong.
The only difference is the back suspension with the shocks moved forward.
Calling them 74.5 is an Americanism. The factory released the forward mounted model in Jan 74 and were sold in Australia in early 74. There was a small change to the shape of the metal work of the top shock mount part way through 74.
