« on: May 17, 2016, 07:33:33 pm »
silly me forgot to clean out the frame(oiltank) be4 the rebuild now its ready to start and i find rust flakes and crud in the tube no plug to drain away either
i have been flushing out with degreaser and getting a lot of stuff out .would filling the tube with a rust killer and primer product kill and seal the frame.
have bought oil filters from speedway spares in the uk to go on as well
just want to give the new motor a good start with clean oil

Jim,
Fill with kero then blow out from the top with compressed air. Photo of the bike would be nice.

best thing ive found for rust is molasses. Works a charm on tanks and its gentle. a good flush out after a weeks soak should have all the floaties  gone then a good rinse with kero, diesel  or very oily two stroke mix should have it serviceable.

A few months back i cleaned a steel fuel tank with vinegar, apple cider vinegar is the best. I soaked it for about a week, I was able to put washers inside it and shake it for about half hour and it bought it back to clean steel,  it smells a bit funky but worked well and only cost about 10 bucks.

Cheers Pete
