2016 Tallarook Vinduro: Sunday 29 May
« on: May 09, 2016, 12:12:31 pm »
The Tallarook Vinduro will be held on Sunday 29 May.

This event has been brought forward following the unexpected cancellation of the Stratford event. A big thank you is due to Peter Moulding for making his Tallarook property available at such short notice.

The 2016 Tallarook Vinduro will follow the same format as previous years, with a private property loop available, and a longer ride taking place through surrounding forest.

Stay tuned for more details.

After recently enjoying the Veri well organised Beaufort Rally I'm looking at Tallarook, old videos look good.

Yes, kids can ride. Yet to be confirmed whether they'll need a junior license or if there are minimum age limits but I'll check and report back. The landowner is ok with camping onsite on Saturday and possibly Friday but again I'll check. BYO everything but there will be a portadunny there.

The ride will be a cracker and has the advantage of being close to Melb. A red plate ride will also be available through the Tallarook State Park and no more than 20 riders at a time will be allowed out on the loop. Anyone who has ridden the area will vouch for the variety of the terrain which can be challenging, particularly if there's a bit of moisture about!

The entry form has been emailed to VERi members, and will be made more widely available shortly.

As far as I know, junior riders must have a recreational licence before riding. This is to be signed by parent/guardian. Kids will need to be supervised by a responsible adult at all times too.

The address for the event is 80 Kingston Road, Tallarook.

A word of advice – don’t try to approach the venue via Tallarook Road. The best way to get there is to take Ennis Road off the M31 (Hume Freeway), then turn into Landscape Road, and finally Kingston Road.

As per previous events there will be a closed loop on private property and a longer ride through surrounding bushland. If taking part in the latter, bikes will need to be registered (full/CPS/UVP/rec rego) and riders must have a valid motorcycle licence.

No rego or motorcycle licence is needed to ride the loop on private property; however unlicensed riders and/or riders of unregistered bikes will be required to purchase a One Day MA Recreational Licence (unless they have an annual MA licence).

Children are welcome to ride on dedicated tracks on the property on Saturday, but must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times. An indemnity form will need to be signed by parent/guardian, and a One Day MA Recreational Licence purchased (unless the child has an annual MA licence).

VERi insists that all bikes are adequately silenced. Club scrutineers will be looking out for unsafe bikes. Remember, the onus is on the rider to ensure they meet all requirements when riding on public roads in surrounding forest. This is a popular area, regularly patrolled by police – you have been warned!

Free camping is available on Friday and Saturday nights.

Many thanks are due to VERi member Peter Moulding who has made his property available and put a lot of time and effort into this event.

For those wondering, Riders' Briefing will be at 8.30am on Sunday, with riders hitting the private property loop at 9am. Details of the ride through surrounding forest will be announced at the Briefing.

The VERi committee is very pleased with how this event went today. Despite the late change of venue the turn out was excellent, and the weather and riding conditions were just right.

Thanks to property owner Peter M for his hard work leading up to the weekend, and throughout the event.
