Clydesdale Class
« on: March 01, 2016, 11:12:30 am »
So some of us are........how shall I put it......robust gentlemen. And while this attirbute is a great demonstration of commitment to a certain lifestyle in a general sense it probably wouldn't help us win any races. Not saying we can't win, but they have weight classes in other sports for a reason.

So I'd like to propose a Clydesdale Class under the following guidlines........

1. Rider must be over 100 kilos  (weigh-in at scrutineering).
2. One dedicated Clydesdale race per meet on whatever 250 you have (up to say 1985).
3. Winner recieves a donut. (Win the Clydesdale Nationals and get a golden donut!!)

Of course clubs would have to be willing to facilitate it for us, but at worst case it could be run informally as a sub class in any 250 race which would mean basically no work for the club. For example, just register as a Clydesdale with someone who's willing to take the names and wear a coloured armband or something.

Any takers?

Good idea tony ,
But in my club there wouldn't be many blokes or gals over the 100 kg mark ,
But I maybe wrong  :o but the scale don't lie  ;D
I am one for power to weight ratio so counts me out .

I understand what you want to achieve, however there are plenty of guys over 100kg who can still ride very fast & want to (the only way the know). Not sure the weight limit is the correct criteria for the class you want it to be.

Yeah fair point BigK. I guess the idea is to have a race for the rest of us. But then maybe we just need to be better riders!

The main idea was that it would be good for a laugh for those of us who probably wouldn't normally make the pointy end of the field.

And yes to 125's Scotty! That would be the go for sure. Just figured most people have 250's for starters.

First place = 1 donut, 2 for second and 3 for third :-)

Great a "Fat Bastard's" class.

Do you think giving them a donut is a good idea.  Some of them might already be type two diabetics.

Really I would like to see us encourage guys to lose weight.

Just so you know some days I will weigh 100 kilos.  I would prefer to not fit into that class.

Yes, I saw that program.  Most people would find sticking to 800 calories very hard work, and many will fail in the attempt.  But the researcher spruiking it said there was clear evidence that the majority of those who manage it for two months would completely reverse their diabetes.  And seeing that diabetes take on average ten years off your life, its something well worth giving a bloody good go.

I applaud those guys who will try the 800 for 8 weeks challenge.

I don't want to get all "Men's Shed" on you, but we should all be looking out for each other.
I want our larger mates to be around to be Super Seniors, so encourage them to try to get the weight down.

Cheers

I am on the LCHF (Low Carb, High Fat), I cut out bread, pasta, sugar, rice etc, been eating heaps of cheese, eggs, red meet, chicken, cream, butter.    I lost 7 kg in 7 weeks.

Feels wrong eating bacon & eggs every second day, heaps of double-thick cream on fresh raspberries, cheese omelettes but it is working.
