I found and bought the engine from my first brand new childhood 1973 MC twofiddy Maico (ebay listed ex Cessnock swap meet)
And I am pretty sure(hopeful) that I have tracked down the chassis 8)
True.

But yes it is a great read, I hope it is true as well! good on him :) 8)

I think Joel is a great bloke, met him at CD5. I was thrilled, shook hands, got his autograph etc.
A very humble man. My Sister took me to see him at Oran park in the early seventies too.
There are some great videos of his rides on YouTube.
His fans would sometimes lay on the track in front of his competitors ;D

Apparently he had never ridden a bike again "since" those early championship days :-[ :-X
But he did a lap in the bog at CD5 and

 I remember Joel's english was very poor, but trying to communicate that it was an achievement to finish, as the machines from Suzuki were always breaking down because they had been lightened to the point of unreliability.
Where as the CZs he had come from were bullet proof reliable.

That is a great story!  :)

I bought some parts from Terry Good a few years back and he is also a great guy.  The parts came packaged safely and the price was fair.  He also sent a number of DVD's with great old footage at no charge.

Yes it is all true and I am so grateful to be the curator of that bike. The best part is Joel and I became best friends since then. We talk on the phone at least once a month and either he comes to my house or I go to his house once a year.
