YZ80?
« on: December 30, 2015, 02:36:50 pm »
 My grandson has this 80cc Yamaha monoshock which is a hand-me-down from his sisters.
 It has no compliance plate, has '80cc' stamped on the reed block. I assume it is a YZ80?
Hasn't been run for about 5 years.
I have the job of getting it running and a bit of tidying up.
Where should the frame No. be?
What year?
Needs an air box etc, other odd bits.
As I suspected the reason for no start was crankcase full of stale fuel, from leaky fuel tap. Put some fuel in the tank, aero start in the carby, after a couple of pushes it fired up with a cloud of blue smoke obliterating the scenery. I turned  the fuel off removed and plugged the dripping fuel line till the smoke and engine stopped. All good. Can I get fuel tap seals, muffler, seat cover ignition kill switch and stuff easily for this? cheers pancho.
dont follow me i'm probably off line!

YZ80E = 2J5 1978, First Mono YZ80.

One way to pick an E from an F is the swingarm.
E has one brace
F has 2

Ghostrider is correct. I had a 1978 YZ80 E as a kid. The E model had a 5 speed gearbox and the F model had a 6 speed gearbox.
I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.
