Shock length YZ250A

over all or just the shaft ?
i think eye to eye on the red dots are 13/5" but can run a tape over one if you like

eye to eye, its got what look like old koni shocks on it and I want to make sure of the length before I start looking for some new ones.

Ignoring the previous shameless dealer plug, thread hijack and useless information, my book on all things Yamaha tells me that they are 340mm long. I had Works Performance on my "A", and they were great. Having said that, if it's not a resto Davey's advice makes sense.

The A model needs help to turn. IMO the engine/footpeg to front axle is wrong being to far back almost like a trials bike. I tried many things and gave up , tall seats to help get forward, ceriani forks at least help with flex.
Longer shocks etc. Still it's no corner carver. Fast and trick and wonderful light but you are never going to get it under a Maico.
I like to try Firko's Hindel framed YZ A and hope it has all the good stuff from the YZ A but none of it's handling problems.

When I get my interest in VMX back I'll get stuck into the Hindall YZ-A and both of you blokes are welcome to race her. Broadford might be a stretch. Once the house renos are done I'll be finishing the Shell 750 flat tracker and sorting out the 360 Yamaha framer. At the pace I build them these days the Hindall should be up and running in 2019.

you all have to remember that a YZ A ...in any of it's early incarnations..is borne out of what Hallman knew..so many Husky influences....many can make a Husky turn..so  YZ A can too..it is all about the front end..
