The early speculation is that the perpetrators were home-grown (speaking French with French accents).

This is going to become very interesting (in the Chinese sense). I think today will be a turning point like 9/11 was. I just hope 'we' don't make as many stupid decisions as we did in the wake of 9/11.

Invaded a couple of countries that had nothing to do with it ( most of the perpetrators were Saudi) and created a massive power vacuum for this current bunch of psychopaths to inherit.

WHY, I wonder what the f#*k do they think they are going to gain from this senseless taking of innocent lives.
Everyday I find one more name to add to the list of people who piss me off.

Unfortunately there's not much coherent thinking going on. If they'd stand still and take the masks off we could sort the whole thing out pretty quick.

What Paulos said.

The west should have learned from Iraq/Saddam, but are now repeating the exact same mistakes in Syria.
The USA has treated the Middle East as a play thing for foreign policy experiments and a way to justify huge military expenditure. Now, the result of decades of sneering superiority is coming home to roost.

I can't recall if it's 0.003% or 0.0003% of the Muslim population that are extremists, but the events in Paris don't change those statistics. If Islam really was all about nutters with AK47s, then 1.7 billion of them would have destroyed the rest of us years ago.
