A bit worried about my DT...
« on: September 24, 2015, 06:55:04 pm »
G'day all,
I have a little problem with my DT175.........She's been stored in the shed for about 20+ years. I dragged the out few weeks ago and got it start but the clutch wasn't engaging (had to roll it so i can put it in gear)..also when i shifted up to third gear, engine started to having some weird clunking noises from somewhere in the motor. only third gear. Anyone can help me out please??

check for free rotation of the motor and gearbox in the different gears by taking the sparkplug out and putting the bike on a stand so you can turn the rear wheel and feel what is happening. Its possible that something is moving around inside the gearbox

its sounds like theres some teeth off one or both of the gears, easy to tell when riding the bike as the chain will jump around alot in the gear thats stuffed compared to any other gear that are ok. ive got gear sets for t/shock and monoshocks if you need them
