DH reed valves
« on: September 04, 2015, 06:10:49 am »
Picked up a incomplete DH reed valve a couple of weeks ago, I've got new reeds coming but I'm not sure if they ran limiter plates like most bikes or used the casting as the limiter like in the G.E.M set up I have.
This is a 4 petal setup where the front of block doesn't stick out like the 8 petal version does
I'll probably take some photos & post them up later on today & see if they jog anyone's memory

This is what I have at the moment, reeds & gaskets are coming from vintagepartsgirl on eBay & should arrive next week

The reed stops that seem closest to the dimensions of the reeds

Yeah it's for a CZ, seem to be getting quite a collection of different intakes for them. May end on passing this 1 on to a guy with a Falta 250 while the V6 GEM ends up on my 400

Have some on the way from vintagepartsgirl Lozza, the thickness stated was .35 mm, would that be right for fibreglass reeds?
The eBay seller vintagepartsgirl has a lot of gaskets & reeds for period reed valves,  I bought spares for my G.E.M 6V from them & the reeds have basic dimensions to help you pick the correct set.
What would be your suggestion for material, I will try the petals on block when they arrive to make sure they are the right size & send you a set to copy if you think material or thickness is wrong

0.35 should work alright try them and see how they go. Carbon fibre is the best material.

I now own the big 8 petal version as well awaiting posting in the states, had been in contact with Lee Hoth to see if he would keep an eye out for GEM bits as I still haven't found mine.
He said normally the big units when they show up that they go for around $325us, somehow I managed to win 1 on eBay for $49.95us  which I really did not expect as my bid was for a lot more than that
Lee also told me that Boyesen #603 reeds work well on them, 2 sets are needed of course
I will be interested to see what it is like physically as I know the 4 petal version which were for 250s & I have fitted in the interim moved the carb back further than expected & I had to shorten the new carb even more
The article above shows me who did the extra ports in the barrel, don't think anything else has been done

This got posted in a CZ group on Facebook, interesting to see what they recommended as far as piston mods. Someone posted up some stuff for both 125 & 250 models as well
