The buyer can also have this A5 book.  (I need to get it to a CZ lover)
It's written in Czech, but has lots of photos.
It has been signed by Falta  - at Manly Beach, NSW in 2008.  (We had lunch with VMX Ken)
Just email me a postal address once you sell please, Jimglau - [email protected]

Hi Rodger, I feel humbled by your kind and generous offer.

This CZ400 is very special to me. It belonged to my road kill friend Johnny N. We shared a hundred acres and both of us loved riding this bike, he said he would never sell it. His widow approached me years latter and offered to sell it to me. In the meantime it had been poorly stored under an open window on the coast :-[ rusty forks etc and a swing arm issue.
It is not for sale, it is in my will to go to Johnny's son.

The intention is to finish it and finally start using it in the Heaven VMX series till the end of my days.

I very recently scored this swing arm that was on a vintage bike prepared for and raced by Brad Lackey.
Click on the pic below, it is also the link

Now a CZ book with Falta's signature.
I will look at it, treasure it and have my will adjusted so that it travels along with the bike to Johnny's son Adam :)

I have already had the frame professionally pained "Flame red", but then had restorers remorse that I should have done it the original black.
Now I look at the red frame CZ on the cover of that book and realise that somehow this is all meant to be.
Feeling pretty good.
Thank you for your very kind generosity Rodger.
Kindest regards, Mick D.

If the bike is a 74 with the slip fit exhaust port the frame should be red.
Love the look of the centre port bikes & wish the factory had made them available to the general public rather than just to select riders which may have kept them in the game a bit longer. Peter Drakeford had or has 1 & it looks pretty special to me & would look even better with a good clean up

Peter Drakeford's centre port from the net

No Tony, I have never at anytime said that this bike is a 74.
The reason it was originally black is because it is a 73 side port exhaust with the rear frame loop.

I have read a few times that CZ gurus actually claim the best handling Pre-75 CZ is indeed the 73 frame with rigidity of the 74 arm added.

I know there are a few aftermarket 74 arms out there, but also argument if certain ones were available in the day.
So waited a long time instead to score a genuine one.
I don't see the bracing as an issue, but rather something cool and individual that was added and done for Brad Lackey.
I feel privileged to have this bike and the arm. And the book ;D

That's what I'm running or at least will be when I have my butchered Falta arm repaired/converted to 74 spec. Currently using a 76 Falta arm which is basically the same & it seems better to me although that could be all in my head
Great story & history you have for the bike
