Identifying YZ80 parts help needed
« on: July 31, 2015, 11:49:38 pm »
Hi fellow bike junkies
I have acquired by was of free gratis 3 yz80s
2x J models 90% complete
1x K model with a 22W frame # and no engine
the 2 Js have 5X2 engines and 5X2 frames which i think is correct for the 1982 year
but both of them have loosely fitted barrel and heads
i am having trouble trying to identify which barrel is for the J model
one is correct but i think the other id off a 86 to 92 model
would appreciate any input as i am going stupid looking at pictures on the internet
one seems to have a taller stroke and one has springs to fit exhaust
while the other has 2 x bolts or studs for the exhaust
any help steering me in the right direction to some one who is a yz80 god
would be appreciated
I owned and raced a C model in the 70s but most of my expertise is on xr hondas
thanks
Bruce

Im in the process of building 2 good 80J engines for a mate from 3 spare engines I should have basically all the parts for another engine at the end of the process. I should be finished in a couple of weeks, so if you're after any parts let me know.
By the way all of the gearbox bearings are available at CBC bearings for around $60.

Cheers
Peter
