Yamaha yz465 h fork legs
« on: July 21, 2015, 09:19:03 pm »
Does anyone know if 81 Yamaha yz465h forks are used on any other bikes of that era maybe yz250 or it enduro models, they are the larger 42 mm tubes .Iam trying to source the lower legs or complete forks as my bike has 490 j forks or lower legs fitted and could stir up a hornets nest in evo class.Any help would be appreciated.cheers.

My understanding is that the lowers are 81 250/465 only but the uppers are the same for H & J 250/465 models

No hornets nest, under the current Evolution rues, your J forks are legal. There is however a submission with M.A at the moment to have the rules changed which will see them become illegal for Evo. The cut off deadline for feedback to M.A is 31st July 2015, so if you as an Evo rider or your club want to have a say, for or against the submission, get your emails into M.A pronto.

No hornets nest at all!! Under the current rules start looking for a mid 90s front end make a bracket off the caliper mount as a brake stop. Fit a mid 90s WR500 engine. Then you will have a great EVO bike under the current rules. Naturally this post is just like Big Ks unbiased ::). Has Viper made any submissions? Heaven VMX and QVMX have made submissions absolutely as the MA guidelines require. We have been vilified with untruths, half truths and often out right lies by a few with vested interests. Read the Heaven and QVMX submission and explain why it is bad other than require that bikes are built as the vast majority have always understood the EVO class. The fact MA can not copy and paste a submission into their own minutes has been used to rubbish us by people that should or did know the truth.

The submissions to MA and I sent one in too, very similar to the Heaven and QVMX ones has provision for slightly different components to be approved.  As the J model forks have only changed slightly they probably would be approved.

Also please note if the current rules were enforced (as written) current bikes would comply.  No bikes are OEM.

All any thinking person wants is rules that can be understood and interpreted by anyone, not rules interpretations that are in one person's head.

Let the hysteria begin.

Why so defensive? You've lodged your submission by the correct channels & only time will tell of the outcome, so why make it personal? All I have said is that currently YZJ forks are legal & that time is running out for anyone wanting to have an input to said submission. For the record, VIPER have sent in their thoughts & comments on your submission, in response to the invitation to do so by M.A.

We at HEAVEN are dirty because certain lines were omitted from our submission at MA and the doctored submission used to rubbish our proposal at a VMX meeting in another state.

I believe the 250/465G are the same at 38mm.  The 250/465H the same at 43mm.  I think the latter YZ490 models all run 43mm.  The later IT490 models also run 43mm but the mounting part on the leg to support the brake backing plate is different between the IT and YZ.

How can certain lines be omitted from your submission? I assume you mean by persons other than those who made the submission? How can this be so?

1 : we don't know

2 : Yes

3 : we haven't been told

This whole process is a farce. Certain individuals getting people to sign blank pieces of paper and calling it a petition. Certain individuals using altered submissions to badger people to sign these blank pages. Certain individuals telling people that an upcoming event in Qld is not under the FiM banner. It is a fu..cking joke.

Well thanks for the helpful info on the forks issue guys, I think I will just leave them on there ,as I believe sourcing the originals will be difficult and if they are currently legal ,they will do.
