« on: July 08, 2015, 08:18:33 pm »
For a big wheel conversion of a cr80re.

Not sure what wheel I could use? Maybe xr100???
From memory big wheel 80s only started after they added rear disk?

thanks Tim

Did you extend the swing arm? Just for interest ? Think of stretching it a bit as well

CT110 aggys have a 14" rear wheel & the postie version has a 17" rear wheel Timbo ;), Suzuki did a big wheel RM80 in the mid eighties which used a drum front & rear, they had a longer swingarm & forks, not sure about what else was different than the std wheel job or what size wheels they used on the biggie, ADB done an article on a big wheel CR80 conversion in the 80's from memory, was it Malcolm Hall's six days bike?, it may be easier to use the original hubs with the bigger rims with custom spokes, I reckon you would need to mod the swingarm   :)

It needs 16"

Mmmm I don't really wanna go down the custom spoke route.

Xr100 rim???

Got 86 model front so the modern front is fine. Just the drum back is the problem.

I have not seen that adb bike I will Google it now

Smeds "some' as in very obscure" had an off ball 16 inch , when requiring replacement the parts they superseded to the complete 17 inch unit. Weird quirk production line supply I suppose?. I had four brand new complete rear wheel sets that were taken from postie bikes and replaced with 17 inch sets prior to release. Thought a couple would handy as emergency spare sidecar wheels on the outfit. Both gone to VMX heaven now ....crushed by umm the 754's pork.... Other two adapted to uses like above request. Cheers.
Paul , light weight 17inch would be a far easier to source and convert I think you will find.
Here is a resized wheel bike( 14 and 17 honda) ,made from SL70 left overs, adapted SL100 front forks and triples  and a Chinky 138cc engine I chucked together one afternoon. Note the stand extension to get an idea on raised height.
