Hi from another Mexican
« on: July 06, 2015, 07:54:39 am »
I am from Melbourne, age 36, been riding casually for quite a few years. My first ever bike was a 1973 RT1 360 at 15yo. Never got it running but didn't know anything mechanical. I now believe all I had to do was adjust the points. Spewing. I'd love to get another one to see what I missed out on.

I have just bought a 1975 Honda MT 250 that hopefully one day soon I'll be able to compete in some VMX events with. She's pretty rough now, but she fires and runs. Plans are to obtain a CR250M top end and custom pipe. Resto should involve frame and swingarm powdercoated, wheels rebuilt, new shocks, forks replaced as these ones are seized solid and a steering stop has broken off which caused the nice dent in the tank. Cosmetics will be new seat pan made and recovered, tanks repaired and painted and new plastics and number plates. All the MT road gear won't be used.

Hi Josha welcome aboard. Are you ware of the 3 organisations running events for the old bikes in Victoria? If not here they are; Classic Scramble Club, VCM ( Victorian Classic Motocross register) and Viper. Not hard to find any of their websites. Probably VCM best suited for your bike when you get it up and running. Cheers Jerry

I haven't  been  here for a while but have been busy with the bike. I got a CR250M barrel and head, DG under pipe, alloy XL250K seat, wheels and forks.

Done alot but still a way to go yet. New cables are on their way and still need some shocks.

Couldn't resist but to get her running with the DG pipe. Had to hear it.

Been I while since I've updated this post. I have joined up with the Classic Scramble Club and have competed in a couple of races now. What a good bunch of blokes. Now all I need to do is make the bike faster and learn how to ride it fast.
