YZ Front Rim
« on: July 02, 2015, 10:24:56 pm »
Hi, anyone have an old YZ front rim from an 83 YZ in 21 x 160 36 hole.  Can be worn but not cracked as i will get it re-anodized.  (i am getting a quote on anodizing).  I know the 84 models had z spokes and 85 had disc brakes.  Not sure if earlier model rims fitted as most of the old conical hubs were interchangeable, does any one know?  Would need it posted to Perth.
Cheers, Alex

I just got an email back from Collins Anodic Treatments.  $77 per rim inc GST to gold anodize.  Thats half the price quoted in Perth.

Maybe they are only going to anodize the outside  :o

Hopefully it is not just the inside!  I am considering tossing the idea due to costs.  Quotes have come in at $150 with freight to and from the East coast.  Or $200 locally.  And that is with me sanding and prepping the rims.  I also have to get a front rim with no guarantees of splitting, getting the right colour etc. when they get anodized.
I just got a set of rims and 4 hubs back from the powder coaters and what a job.  Rims look brand new and look great in black.  Hubs look new as well as they blasted the insides as well, and the satin black looks great.
Can anyone recommend some budget rims that are suitable for the older YZ's, or do they all need drilling to suit.

Haven't tried these but they seem to be used by quite a few racers in the states, come drilled to suit
