Just put a power valve push rod that I had repaired and it appears to been modified in a way that it opens the valve slightly. Now the part that was repaired has nothing too do with this affect . Now was this some sort of a mod back in the day

I just had a look at the Tech Report for the 250L and there is no mention of a mod. "Another tip which you may remember from the 80s - the YZ250 power-valve retaining clip (shaped a bit like a Y) is prone to snapping. Replace it with an old 520 chain link plate, the figure of 8 which will fit perfectly, has the correct size hole for the screw and will never snap"..
