Jumbo, you may of already considered this option, but HPI make a full kit for the J.  Stator, rotor, CDI, coil, leads, etc, all for 170 Euro's.  http://www.hpi.be/item.php?item=068K233
I am seriously considering one for my rm80n as the ignition in there is from god knows what, i am having trouble timing it, and it is more expensive to replace the parts with used junk.
Cheers,
Alex

That's really interesting Alex.  just getting a stator rewound can be $250 as I found out recently.  I wonder how the CDI curve compares to the standard one.  They do show a curve on the site, but they don't compare it to the Yamaha curve.

Any thoughts ??
Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

The only triple jumps he would have been doing are the hop, skip & jump.

I have a PVL on my YZ which is twice the price.  For an extra 7 Euros, you can get the 2 curves option on the HPI.  The programmable ignition curve is available on the HPI digital unit but is twice the price.

I wonder how curve 1 and curve 2 compare to the standard curve (and PVL for that matter)

The ignition on my 250H has shat itself  :'(

On that link, you will see a list of options, information on each one and a price adjustement for each one selected.  There is an option for a programmable system but it takes the price right up over 300 Euros.  The 2 curves option is only 7 Euros more.  Not sure how the 2 curves would compare to the standard systems.  Probably a few guys on here use them and can answer.  I think you can play around with the timing to get slightly different results too.  There are some instructions on the page as well that you can read.  The instructions show you the ignition curve and how to adjust timing to get different result.
