Does a TS185 motor fit into a PE175C?

Why the heck would you want to do a fool thing like that Nathan?


 Iffff your desperate or the lobotomy isnt working well than i guess it would. Ive seen one (silver engine) in a RM125 frame and thats what the PE175 are based on.

Now you know go have a good lie down and forget about it before someone comes with a white coat with very long sleeves and buckles down the back.

No for the later reed engine (center port exhaust) but probably for a side port engine '76 model

There was such a bike advertised on Gumtree a few months ago (home-built trials bike based on early (side port) TS185 and it looked pretty good too

It would have more bottom end but thats about it unless you work the hell out of the engine.

 i think i have a spare engine and pipe but getting it to the south coast could be the issue.
I see them on ebay in melbourne fairly cheap  most of the time.
 if your really set on it and cant find anything you know where I am.

 id maybe look for maybe an XR200 and play with that engine. could be a nice rider.

Saint, I had a half assed attempt at a TS/RL185 using an old TS185ER. What stopped me in my tracks was after I'd re-positioned the footpegs up and back (instead of under and forward) I couldn't use the kickstarter ??? never thought of that ::) Needless to say it went no further :(

A guy in NZ did one on the early/mid 70's. used a 250 ignition for the heavier flywheel. made a pipe, small seat, moved the pegs, made an airbox, plastic guards etc. I don't know if he de-raked it or not. He rode it for a while then bought an RL250

I would be pretty surprised if someone would replace the RL250 motor which is very good for trials with any other motor unless all they had was a bike with no motor.
I've seen photos of an early 1970s Bultaco trials bike with a sideport Suzuki TS250 (I think) motor (bike built in the 1970s) and am currently working on building a similar bike myself. It is likely that early RL250 prototypes used Bultaco Sherpa T frames
