My bikes are positioned so they are shielded by the cars inside the shed. We have had lots of rain in the past 24 hours and it is quite windy.
I'm near Gladstone so our windiest time is still a few hours away.
I'm thinking a few mature trees might fall over when the wind gets serious because the soil is saturated with water

Got sent home from work.  lots rain on an already soggy ground and high tides  mean plenty of closed roads. two roads are already cut on the way home and looks like the bruce near caloundra turn off may just go under.  i got no chance of getting into the girlfriends place for the weekend unless i get the big bike very muddy and i dont like her that much
 stay warm and dry guys

It's no coincidence that cyclones have female names, they do after all get the washing off the lines......
Hope this one's not too hard on you all up there.

Stay safe up there you lot. And get the bikes to high ground pronto as the news just told me of up to 300mm expected anytime soon.

EBT Mick is hanging out in Hervey Bay and he reckons its a fizzer. Media have huuugely beaten it up. highest wind gust in Rocky was 113 km's nothing like the numbers bandied about. couple of shacks in Yeppoon got hammered and they have made it seem like tracy hit again...
ol mate in Noosa said they had 2-300 mm last night with a bit more on its way

Agreed it was a huge media beatup. Marcia was small and intense and its area of destructive winds quite small relatively. It looks to have softened quickly on landfall but it was still pretty nasty in Yeppoon apparently - a lot of trees down and a lot of damage to older homes. I'm gonna call it at cat3/edging into cat 4 at landfall.

This'll give you a feel for how it was at yeppoon.

I think the BOM talk it up just in case it turns nasty, otherwise they get their asses kicked for not warning people... so many time i am driving home from work and they predict huge storms, hail etc. mostly it does not happen...

No wind on the sunny coast to speak of. almost still. What we have had is rain and a fair bit of it. 320mm since last nite and lots of roads cut.

My Gf has been flooded in and just managed to get out tonite and on her way to my place as more rain is expected over nite.
After the big Brisbane floods thee was an unsubstantiated rumour that the  premier at the time gave an unofficial direction to the BOM to overstate all weather issues just so they wouldnt get caught with their knickers around their respective ankles again like they were when the dam had to lose water .

At least the BOM got the warnings out early enough for people to prepare. Best to be safe than sorry I suppose. Here's hoping the floods don't get too serious again. Send some of the water down to Victoria if you QLD'ers have too much of it.

And more rain is on it's way.

And no doubt another tax levy for Newsouthwelshman. Hang on Labor has been chucked out. We will be spared.
