Where are the pictures?
« on: August 23, 2007, 09:33:40 pm »
I have noticed a lot of posts that seem to be referring to a picture, but nothing is showing.
I can see some pictures so they aren't always unavailable
What am I missing???

Okayyy.

Pics are  hosted on a seperate  computer and hot linked  to this website. If the other pc is offline or there is a problem with the path to that pc  the pics wont show. The problems may be  your security  settings or a pc down in the network to the hosting pc.

What do we need to do in our security settings to have the pictures show?

is a slider  Husky. Just lower it a lil bit   and click the apply button. see how that goes. If it fixes its all good if not  no biggy  as its the  file path  with the issue and not  anything easy you can do to fix that  cept  try a few proxies and thats  getting a bit techy

It *might* be something to do with this forum, altho I tend to think it's likely to be your settings. Give me an example of a post where this is happening and I'll check it out.

3 things it could possibly be

1: Depends on what site the pic is hosted on  and if you have a clear path on the network to that picture guys.
With security it all depends on the website again  if it is in the correct security zone that your settings(yes you do have security settings)  are set for .

2: If using internet explorer go up the top tp tools/internet options/Privacy and set it  to medium for starters . then click secirity then the internet  icon then  custom level and again set it to medium. also check within that box that show pictures has a dot in it . if they show fine if not lower themm a bit more.. Or you have a third party software  security setting

3: There really isnt a pic at all and we are just stuffing with your heads  ;D

Iv'e noticed it a few times but can't remember where to look for them all now, but Quicksilvers My new bike CR 125m in biketalk is a classic example, no picture shows in his first post, everyone else seems to be able to see it.
I just had another look and still nothing shows even after waiting a few minutes which I often have to do with this bloody 28.8 dialup

Pokeys option 3 could explain a lot, I'm always on the outside looking in.

I had considered Pokey's 3rd option on the odd occassion myself.. :-\
the post boldly states..here is a pic but there is just an empty void  ???
but this is kinda good news as I was beginning to think the void was all in my head  :)

You know there is something a bit strange there. I know the post you mean and at the time I wondered why there was just a space there. Now, this pic of Doc's goes in OK but doesn't show up. For some reason the forum software converts the first '=' to a '-' (ie after ?action)

If you look at the image properties, that first = is shown as a - and yet it was inserted as an =

Hmmm...
