I had a basic slide-out a couple of years back, jumped up got on the bike and kept going. When i got back to the pits later i looked at the elbow guards and the were a series of 5mm deep gouges through them. You're better off dressing for the crash.

Now that I think about it I still have some impressive scars on my elbow that I banged up along with on my side/abdomen where a stick almost gave me a appendectomy.

Thanks for the advise I wasn't going to worry about it but I will go out and buy some.

I don't really want to think about how old my Dianese armour is, but it has some scars to prove that wearing it is worth the bit of extra heat. There are scars on the shoulders, back, forearms and chest, all of which would of been my skin and or bones getting abused. Now I feel like I'm missing something if I don't wear it. The last time I went for a "quick" ride down the back and didn't bother putting it on, a wallaby decided to attempt a crash tackle when I had the 'berg blasting along beside rail tracks and I ended up with arms full outstretched as my ribs hit the rail. 3 broken ribs and some missing bark later........ I don't leave home without it. Rules or no rules.
Arrogance.....A way of life for the those that having nothing further to learn.

Not compulsory, but i wouldn't ride without my pressure suit.

Depends what you do for a living maybe? I'm a self-employed chippy, so if i come off the bike and land on my elbow, i'd rather have some body armour between me and the ground.

I think a back protector is mandatory in dirt track
Hi Everyone,
I am getting conflicting advise.    Is body armour  compulsory in Classic MX ?

Ok here are the facts up until this rule amendment was posted by MA on the 22 January http://ma.org.au/index.php?id=141   Body armour with back protector was compulsory for Classic MX as well as Classic DT.

How did this happen you ask.

Well in the 2013 MOMS it said a back protector was compulsory for Classic DT same as modern DT.  When the MOMS went to being online and the rules were re-written with some sections from the old "all discipline" section.  Someone just transferred the rules from Dirt Track for protective clothing.  So not only was body armour etc compulsory for Classic MX in the 2015 MOMS but it was also in the 2014 MOMS.

MA will address a problem when it occurs.

So body armour/back protection is not compulsory for Classic MX now!!!

But it may pay to download the PDF file and print it off.  I intend to do just that.

If in doubt ask.  But ask the right people.

was advised to get one, bought a 661 pressure suit and about 30 seconds after heading off couldn't tell I was wearing one - absolutely love it, it is mesh and very comfortable - and has a built in kidney belt also.

I've got a 661 pressure suit too Ross and I love it.  I'm going to but a neck brace soon, so I guess I will find out if the two are compatible  :-\
Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

My suit is one of the cheaper models of 661. Old model Leatt Adventure.
They work fine together, but it takes a bit of planning.

Put suit on, don't zip it up all the way.
Put jersey on.
Feed the Leatt into the armour/jersey. I always need help with this.
Reach under your jersey and zip the armour right up.
Tuck in jersey.

The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

Sounds a bit tricky ::).  I was looking at the alpine stars neck brace.

Having someone help is an issue.  I usually go to the races with Mainline.  He's flat out gettin himself to the line on time.  Let alone having time to help me  :o :o :P

I could always get an umbrella girl I suppose  :-\

Cause i'm usually helping you re-attach your exhaust, get your front brakes working, getting your throttle to work, look for a spark on the YZ disco ball etc..........
