It will "fit" but the squish domes are different diameters (56mm versus 66mm) it's for a 175 only

The bore is much bigger at 66mm.

No, it does not.
The X to D was where they changed - to D has short 10mm studs that are spaced further apart (to give the transfers more room).
For any given year, the 125s and the 175s share the same stud spacing.

Doesnt an IT175 head have a 4 stud pattern until 1980 when it changed to a 5 stud pattern and it wasnt until 1984 when the IT200cc came out with a 6 stud pattern?

From 1977 onward, the DT and IT175s went to 6-stud heads, even though the 125s stayed with 4-studs.

From 1980, it got more confusing: The new style motors (IT175, YZ125, and later YZ100) with the chain on the right all got 5-stud heads, regardless of capacity, while the old style motors kept whatever they had.

Nathan,

I fairly sure you'll find that the YZ175C barrell does not fit the YZ125C/X bottom end. Thats when the studs were 1st widened for the larger transfer ports, at least according to the magazines of the day. They may well have been widened again for the IT175D. I think the YZ175C still used thro-studs to the head.

Hmmm, interesting.
Given the rarity of the YZ125C in this country, its probably academic, but for the sake of accuracy, I'm more than happy to be corrected.

The 175C does run the "all the way through" head/barrel studs.
