Cr500 power valve ?
« on: January 05, 2015, 05:54:36 pm »
Did Honda ever fit power valves to the CR 500's ? Or is ADB not checking their facts again..

Thought so, just reading the ADB comparo between a CR500 and CRF450. Not only does it have a power valve, but it's engine parts wear put quicker than the 450's as well. I don't know why I buy ADB any more.

I read that test as well today and thought what a pile of crap.
The "who's got what" column by the ADB technical editor Mat Boyd has gems like.......

The rider has to mix fuel and oil on the 500 but only has to pour in straight fuel on the 450R.

The CR 500 uses a Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI) but the CRF450R runs off a fully transistorised ignition.

The CR500 engine has an exhaust power valve to smooth out the power delivery but Honda doesn't use them on its four stroke dirt bikes.

These are just a few Jems from the technical editor.
I have every edition of this magazine and maybe it is time to move on,especially when the first TEN pages are ads.

I can't see why anyone still buys the mag with the competition that's available.
