Yamaha YZ250J Stator

Just brought a 1982 YZ250J for VMX racing.   Rode it for an hour and it was great.
Now it has no spark, and it appears from the ohm readings in the manual, that the stator is faulty.
Extensive Ebay search turned up a new replacement stator, but after I ordered it the supplied advised they are no longer available!   Any suggestions????

Steve, I bought a PVL German digital ignition for my 83 YZ125K.  I wasnt cheap but it replaces the stator, rotor, coil and cdi.  All bits fitted straight on with no hassles and after i timed it, the bike started second kick and run like a beast.  Why bother with 32 year old electrics and risk ruining your day.  I have a few pics up in the Yamaha section on this site under YZ125K rebuild of what the system looks like and how it is fitted.

Thanks for your replies guys, very helpful.   Might go the full PVL replacement route, but the British stators looks $ good also.
Mine cant be rewound as they a sealed like the main ignition coil...

Since you are replacing the stator anyway you may want to do what the Yamaha factory team did with Rick Johnson's bike he raced in the US Nationals. Yamaha has a Wrench Report about this. They ran an entire ignition from the YZ60. RJ nearly won the Championship that year but for a broken hub. His bike was very production compared to the Factory Hondas that he came so close to beating. I'm just trying to make the point there must have been some kind of advantage to this. I would think you can find a YZ 60 ignition cheaper than a PVL. But you cant do bad with  PVL either. I've never heard of someone unhappy with the PVLs added performance
