User names
« on: November 20, 2014, 10:37:54 pm »

While I was having a look through the forum tonight I noticed a couple of unusual user names and wondered where they came from.  Most members seem to use a nick name or their own name or maybe a name they wish was theirs. Others use race numbers or their favourite brand of bike or a mixture of 2 or more of them.  Then there are others that I have trouble trying to workout where they might have evolved from.
Mine started as a play on words a few years ago when I used to make and sell personalised gear shifter connecting rods for Harleys and on mine fatboy became fat-toy.  I might be a bit nosey but I would be interested in the origins of some of the more unusual user names.

Everyday I find one more name to add to the list of people who piss me off.

Tim754 -  short for mental time-bomb with 7.54 second count down. Or how about the 754th failure named Tim born in 1957, or perhaps My name is Tim Derrick and I own a rough old Honda CB750/4 K series powered VMX sidecar. ;)
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

I signed up to the SOHC4 forum when I was rebuilding my 1973 Rickman CR750. Just kept it going through other fora.

From the old usenet days. Rec.Motorcycle.Dirt actually. Everything was anonymous on there and I needed a catchy user name. TooFastTim was catchy and I've stuck with it for over twenty years. In no ways does it reflect my ability on an off-road bike  8)

Because shouting with joy is what twisting the loud handle makes me feel like doing.  Occasionally with pain.
