Hey just wondering if anybody can tell me what's the difference in the mounting positions

Mounting for what 250 and 400 are the same in years 80-82 same rolling shell 175 is different smaller seat side panels etc.

What are you trying to do I have a pe400 in 1982 pe 175 roller not a lot of room though.

The early stuff has a bit more room there's always something though if you are going to put a big motor in a 175 rear wheel needs to be changed 175 swingarm is different to 250 400 as well, thanks Michael.

Motor mounts? The aluminium bits yes different  I can't say for sure on the rest but I'm pretty sure they are different in the pe175 floater I have a 400 in they don't line up exactly modifications are needed for sure.
