WANTED- monoshock spring around 7.0 kg
« on: November 04, 2014, 12:19:50 pm »
Anyone got a spare spring around the shed that they want to sell?  Chasing a spring between 6.5 & 7.0 kg/mm with an ID no smaller than 56mm.  The length of the spring on the bike is 280mm but that isn't that important.

It's for a 1984 Honda CR500.

A lot of the PDS KTMs came with springs around that rate. They're a bigger diameter shock, but I expect the springs will still fit in the bike.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

Thanks Nathan, the PDS KTM's have progressive springs, I'm looking for straight-rate.

Thanks Walter, was hoping to score a used spring off someone for about $50.  I have a pile of old springs in the garage, not what I need, someone must have something kicking-around  :-)

You are correct  :-)  might try cutting a bit off the spring to see if that works (it has in the past), if it doesn't work I'll be on the phone to you  ;-)

According to my sources the stock Honda spring was 4.6 with the optional Honda heavy spring being a 5.0

7.0 is a big jump or do I have my numbers wrong?

You are correct Geoff, the stock is a 4.6, I currently have 5.7 on but with the sag measurements it is still too soft, the Racetech website is quoting a 7.3kg for my weight.  I feel a 6.5 might be closer but who am I to argue with Racetech?  ;-)

Bit of a joke really, if you weighed-in to suit the suspension springs, you'd never be able to push the kickstart lever down lol.
