Bead blaster - Northern Sydney
« on: September 22, 2014, 03:08:50 pm »
Hi Guys,
I am struggling to find a bead/sand blaster in Northern Sydney that doesn't want me to fund a new Porsche for his collection...

Got quoted $150.00 per hour for blasting - I could be wrong - but I reckon that is excessive. The blasting machinery isn't high tech or overly expensive, and the operator doesn't require a PhD...

Any leads or recommendations would be appreciated.

I just need a simple steel frame stripped...

Cheers,
VMX42

I think the going rate is between $150 and $250 per hour Jeff, I think the city you live in is not cheap either. A frame will take a good operator half an hour maybe, depending on condition. I got a frame and some small parts chemically stripped not long ago that that had ugly thick black powdercoating on it. I day later and $50 it was done.

Pro Strip charge about the same - $100 which realistically is reasonable.

I believe Keto now does it with a mobile unit? Maybe he could do it?

I have his mobile number if you want it just PM me ....

It will make a difference time wise if you strip as much as the paint as you can with stripper and a wire wheel. Bloody messy and you tend to get chemical burns if your not suited up properly :o. I have just done this with my YZ100G frame. I spent considerably less time at the blaster than just going at it fully painted. ;)

Ask Doc how he does it, IIRC, he sands off the lot - a very patient bloke.
