Hi temp exhaust paint

Whats the best hi temp clear paint for factory look exhaust?

Where do you get it?

How long does it last?

Any trick process to apply/cure etc?

I'd be interested to know also.  I use hi-temp clear brake caliper paint but it soon burns-off up to 300mm from the exhaust port.

Ditto, but I used black not cleat  ???

Thought that the clear might work better, hence the post, but maybe not?

I even had mine e-coated first (like plating with paint not metal) & even that failed. Thought that might have been OK as that paint cures at 190C for 30 mins, but nope, she's come of as well now  :'(

Normal everyday 2K auto top coat. I use Lesonal brand, it may (usually not) turn a honey color for the first 150mm near the head but otherwise will stay clear. It will rub off with use but is still tougher than normal heatproof. I use 2k satin black on pipes as well. When you become a Viking you will know all this stuff automatically Steve.

Thx Mick, I am thinking of trying clear powder coat & see how that stands up over time?

Enough with the Viking thing, I am starting to get paranoid about it & may have to check my ancestory before long???

Even my Dad is starting to ask questions about why I only have bikes from the land of the rising sun & not the Nordic homeland  ::)

Blackboard/chalkboard paint looks ok for a fair while and its cheap. (like me)

VHT make a clear flame proof paint.  Google it for retail outlets, but I got the local Auto Pro to get me a spray can in.  ESP115000 SP115 Satin Clear.

the oil on the pipe and cured is good ,its like seasoning your camp cook pot if you use a high temp oil find one as clear as you can just keep rubbing on after cleaning the bike after a ride we did it back in the eighties in england very damp place you only had to go in the house to defrost you fingers after washing your bike come back out and your trick pro curcuit pipe was already turning ,mi old grandad said ,rub a bit o oil on it son and it never went rusty again it dose brown up a touch down low but thats character
