chasing complete disc brake front end to fit 82 model xr 500 . i dont think it will be evo legal after its fitted.....

Lol. I've got a 1984/85 CR250 Front end on mine. I can sell you one of those if you like.

I thought the original tls drum brake worked ok well I am happy with the stock ones on mine, I might just be easily pleased though.

I'd say you are very easily pleased  :). I recall my XR500 back in 1982 when it was new and the front brakes were only ever ordinary.  We learnt to adjust the twin shoes properly so they worked better but were only ever adequate, nothing better.  And forget them after going through a creek .. useless.  The best thing you can do to an early XR is put a better frnt end on it .... in my humble opinion of course :)

cr conversion is the go. the original forks are a bit wimpy under stress and the brakes are a lucky dip...some great some not so great. and after water  none are great... ;D
