Of course we need to know if anyone else is entering to make up a class ??

I was speaking to a bloke last week who has a 76 or 77 Wasp, and is reasonably keen to ride, but he thought there was only going to be a Pre-75 class.

(I may make fun of sidecar fans, but these blokes had a modern DT chair, a modern road trial chair and the VMX Wasp... And they were talking about getting a speedway chair. That's properly nuts! :) ).

The question has to be asked of the sidecar guys

If the sidecars in the Classic Championships were changed to Pre 78 (instead of Pre 75) would there be more entries?  It is too late for this year.

Also similar applies to the Post Classic.  Would a change to Pre 90 increase entries or maybe even Pre 85 and Pre 90, run together but scored separate if number warrant it.

Bikes changed a fair bit Pre 85 twinshock heavy frame heavy motor Pre 90 lite weight mono shock.Pre75 suspension changes a bit say from a 75 wasp to a 78 wasp

Just keep sending the same proposal in each year and if you can get more clubs or individuals to send the same thing.

If at first you don't succeed Don't Give Up

Why not propose Pre 78 as a separate class and if entries aren't enough they are combined and scored as one.

There is no point it continuing the way it is now.

In Queensland it's not a problem as we only have pre 85 mine is the only pre 90 up here and rules are rules I can see a problem down south we don,t want to loose any classes ( if only we could make this place smaller :D) but at the end of the day it's all about fun and having a good time . Just a question is there a pre 90 title held if not when will it become a class in the national titles is there a time frame that has to be abided by  :)

It's getting to the stage where it's going to be to expensive to race soon $170 to enter the conandale classic but hey I will be there just to have some fun :D  :D

100% Rob .  Thats exactly how history is , but I was to scared to comment because of of all the plastic newcomers . But you never know, if we make a submission to MA ,history could be rewritten and all classes combined , after all they all have 3 wheels and bums on seats (licences ) that matter .
 
 
Agree with Rob and Walter too.  Pre75 in VMX Sidecar is the correct cut off era. Likewise Pre68. Pre85 could (in my opinion) be stretched to Pre87 as that is when the FIM's rules changes instantly destroyed the big bore heavyweights from Championship racing, leaving the light weight small bores (Sub 700cc or so toys) to grab all the big cherries. I beg to differ Tim as my '76 RT15a Wasp is just outside the era (pre75) and is light years away from the pre85 stuff. I think the cut-off is actually the banana-arm brigade. When they came in the suspension travel lengthened a fair bit and you can actually JUMP them.
At my age I think it should be more aligned with an aggregate age. i.e. The age of the passengerx2( ;D) added to the age of the driver and the age of the outfit. That way a couple of old diggers can still score some points.

Eml Don't the MoMs include and allow RT15's as pre75 spec follow on? Airbag rear no, fair enough, but twin shocks? If the frame is not allowed ,what are the reasons?

There is a number Of reasons for and against the pre '75 cutoff date. If we move it from pre '75 to pre '78 then we include rear disc brakes (slight) increase in suspension travel and 'lean forward' rear shocks.
The reason the RT15's are allowed is because they are easily changed to Pre'75 specs and once that is done, they look the part and most are already fitted with pre '75 eligible engines.
On the other hand I agree that an RT15 is light years behind the likes of an '84 EML.
Whenever you include cutoff dates, no matter where the goalposts are set, usually the latest allowable model within that class is the best, especially with sidecars where there is 10 years between '75 and '85.
If we change it to pre '78, then the guy that owns a 1969 model looses out.
