Carb Cleaning
« on: July 03, 2014, 08:26:34 am »
Good Morning!

We’re looking to freshen up our carbie!
What is the best method to clean it up? I’ve heard about putting it in a slow cooker on low with some carb cleaner, Boiling it with lemon juice and vinegar…

Or is purchasing a ultrasonic cleaner the way to go?

Any tips would be most appreciated :D

Cheerio

Subaru Upper Engine cleaner, has a nozzle so you can get it directly into all the ports, cleans the body to look like new, bike shops use it. Wash down with white spirits or thinners and blow out for final fling.

Subaru dealers sell it!  Its also superb at unlocking seized nuts/bolts, nuts mostly but you get the idea, its good.

I just purchases a ultrasonic cleaner from ebay and it works a treat.
Takes about 2 hours with water and a drop of detergent and cleans stale fuel residue inside and out.
Saved a yamaha generator carby that i thought would need replacing.
Probably wont work everytime but worth a go.
Was $225 with free delivery and only took 3 days to arrive.
Cheers
