Single Wire Kill Switch
« on: June 19, 2014, 09:39:50 am »
I need to replace the kill switch on my MX250 but all the after market switches seem to be the two wire type.

The OEM switch is a single wire that plugs into the ignition coil. If I buy a two wire switch is it just a case of connecting the other wire to earth?

Just being a bit cautious because I thought I read somewhere that you can fry the CDI/stator if these are wired incorrectly.

I would have thought that the single wires just earth to the body, handlebars and two wires just run an earth into the bikes earth circuit.

Yep, just send the other wire to earth or buy an early Suzuki style single wire switch, they look good on most old bikes being plated metal with red button. Readily available.
Cheers,
