Stupid ebay
« on: June 02, 2014, 04:15:11 pm »
I've just spent half an hour revising items for sale, advising that they simply cannot be posted for the amount ebay magically calculated. Example: a muffler for $7.20.
What right do they have & where are they dragging the figures from given that they have no idea of weight or parcel size?
Annoyed to say the least.

I have always chosen the options of parcel size and weight myself in the past
Have they changed things?
Can't check myself as I haven't been able log in until I update my password but I can't update it as they don't send out the confirmation e-mail that they keep saying they have >:(

My wife has had grief with them of late too as they keep taking down items on the basis that someone has complained that the item MAY be fake.

What other options are there besides e-bay & gumtree?

I pack my parcel and weigh them and then measure the size, I then go on line to Australia Post, put all the details on and it calculates the price for me, and put the amount onto the invoice and send it to the buyer.

Rather than pay 10% on postage just mark as local pick up.

Then in the description advise shipping at buyers expense and send separate paypal invoice for shipping.

U will save 7% on the fee, but most importantly the greedy bastids are not getting money for nothing.

You can't proceed with the listing unless you choose a postage option, so I chose parcel post, nothing more than that. Ebay the somehow magically determined the size & weight of my items which on the whole are grossly incorrect. Sometimes local pick up doesn't appear in the option list. An idiot knows you can't post a muffler for $7.20. Recently I had ebay decide to list free postage on some of my items, an example being free postage to USA on a $10 item which actually cost $24 to post. I'm still dealing some of those now. Fun times.

Because it's worth between $1 and $99 the USPS price to Australia is $43. :o
