 XR200 6 speed    Slow, Very Slow, Very Very Slow, Extremely Slow,  F*****g Extremely Slow , Basically Backwards.    But all done with big revs and even bigger broad smiles!

it says elsewhere that the last (twin carb) XR200 shares the XR250 bottom end....any ideas there.
I have all 3 BTW XL185 twin shock, XR200 Twin Carb and XR250 with disc front end...hoping to make something out of one

The Twin carb 4 valve RFVC XR200 was 84-85 RE-RF model only,they shared a lot of components with the 250 of the same years but had thinner forks & drum front brake the engines appear pretty much identical but they may have a different bore & stroke,dunno   then they went back to the single carb 2V engine from 86 on but in the 250 type chassis except still with the skinny forks & drum brake

watched Steve chapman valve bounce a 200 around the Devils Pinch "tin Mine" special test in 83, unreal... (I reckon he pulled the top out of the carb and just went for it!)

used to use the 6 speed 125s based motor in bucket racing [hotted to the hilt] & had/have blown up bits everywhere from days gone by!! but a few years ago i put a 200 top end on an old 125 bucket bottom end. Had to shorten the cylinder & had a cam ground to [by memory] a Ford RS2000 grind but spread the lobes a bit to get the valves to clear each other on overlap so as not to have to cut the seats way back!!. This was our best 125 bucket cam back in the day and was copied by a few. My mate worked [part owned] a camshaft shop--experimental days & like i said--monumental blow ups coz i was [still am] too stingy to buy new valves an conrods [slow learner]. Anyway, umm, where was i. So this 125/200 went into an XL185 frame, ridden up the road & parked for years till last weekend & got it going [stale fuel  etc] to chase the kids around a slippery grassy small track. Was a bit wary for a few laps [maiden voyage etc] but it fair howls & was sooo much fun to ride. Light weight [minimal stuff on it--bare essentials], turns on a dime, pulls wheelies, & can clutch it out of a corner like a modern YZF. Short stroke & big cam makes it a little rever & i just remembered i have a new 'wiseco' 12 to 1 piston kit somewhere. I feel a plan coming on. Love those little motors.

ive got the blue seat XR200RD and a couple of twin shockers and yes ones got a xl185 5speed in it and still looking for a silver XR200 donk, the other is missing the donk,tank, front wheel......
I had a great time on the little buggers and that was after the XR500, it all started on a XL100 I luved that bike

a mate had an rc and we used to ride it down into the exploration trenches on the prospect we were working on and out the otherside, banging the bars on the walls... great fun... timed runs around the perimeter track all the good stuff happened on an xr 200

I had a few XL 185s and XR 200s 2 valvers , awesome fun for what they are . Was always breaking frames on the twinshockers though 

Whats the differences between an XR 200 motor and the TLR 200 motor? looks like a different ignition set up , anything else ?

There's been plenty of upset "guns" get there arses wooped by XR200's over the years.....you should never bag a tiddler motor....like when Watts'y won the Aussie 6 day outright years ago on a KTM125.

I have also wonderd about the TLR 250 motor as well but getting hold of one seems hard.

Had a XR200rc and XR200re new back then great little bikes, remember a guy David Oliver from Christchurch NZ on a XR200re at a hare scramble near Dunedin in 1984 cleaning every body up on that bike. You had to rev them to the moon and they handled so nice in the tight stuff.
