74 Suzuki TM250 $3999
« on: May 26, 2014, 09:45:11 pm »
Recently restored, very little use since completed (prob 10hrs) fresh Michi S12's front and rear, GMC pipe and standard pipe/muffler in very good order to go with bike. Not pictured but bike now has 33mm Zeta bar risers, pro taper bars, grips etc, good plastic, excellent tank and seat. Bike starts, runs, rides well. Won't say "race ready" but should only require your own personal tweaks before doing so. Genuine pre 75 legal. Bike in Bacchus marsh, Vic. Can arrange affordable freight to east coast capitals. Any further inquires call Brendan on 0439109 two five four. Make an Offer, listing price was $3999 but if you're a genuine buyer i'm a genuine seller  ;)

No one has the dough well they might but like me saving for something else.

Tidy looking bike though maybe the rising sun is a put off to some when it should have 74 green stripe some may think it is 75 even though listed as 74 and hence they would imagine ineligible for pre 75???

As you asked Brendan  :) the market in general is dead  :( That looks like a really nice example and a couple of years ago you probably would have sold it fairly quickly at that price. In the current market you would probably get a little over half what your asking for a quick sale. As Michael says you might have more luck if it was in 74 livery due to the fact 75 TMs are a pre 78 bike and to the average Joe the differences are not obvious unless you have a 74 and a 75 model side by side but the tank stickers say at a glance 75 model .

Sorry to be pessimistic about it, if its any consolation I have about 40 bikes I would like to move , that again would have probably sold for double what I would get now a couple of years ago .

I think particularly with the older stuff pre 75 back its a shrinking market ( due to ageing participants) and the fact over the last 10 yrs so many bikes have been imported the market is saturated .

I believe there is still the occasional person who wants a certain bike because they had one in their youth , and they may only want to put it in their office and look at it . People wanting these bikes I have found either want them to look very original ( refer tank stickers ) or blinged  up with all the PERIOD goodies they couldn't afford when they had one in the day .

Why not try different photos with the original pipe , black grips, 74 tank stripe and maybe no race numbers but those 74 number board backgrounds with the 250 on them

Good luck I hope you are able to move it for what you want as it will give me a little hope for the 40 odd pre loved souls in my shed  :)

Gee, I don't know, that is a nice looking bike
And a pipe only takes a couple of minutes to change and a good one does so much for output.

I reckon that pipe looks great, flows along original lines, asset  8) for my two cents worth

Like the boy's have said, make it look original, paint the tank back to 74 colours [the best looking IMO], , put the correct front guard on and drop the price, it's a TM250, it will never be worth the same value as a CR250, it's going to cost you money, but if really you want to sell it. Adding all the bling does not improve the value very much and in fact can de-value as Bill say's, people will pay for original. My personal view on the value would be closer to 3K.

All advice taken on board fella's, thanks. Happy to look at any (non insulting) offers now i guess, i have been offered a pretty reasonable swap deal but i'll have another roll of the dice at selling it for a cash sum before i re visit that offer. Cheers, Brendan

Yeah its slowly becoming the norm these days Dave, shows that a lot of people don't have the money but still want to own the things they like. So they trade the things they've still got from the times when they had some spare coin ;D
