Prototype Yamaha TTY500 trials bike
« on: March 06, 2014, 02:18:39 pm »
Here's a page from Tom Beasley's "The Mick Andrews Book of Trials" showing an early stage of a Yamaha prototype trials bike using the XT/TT engine:

I saw mention at Trials Central that Andrews told someone the plan was to use a low-mounted fuel tank with a pump to raise fuel to the carburetor to lower the center of gravity. I think I've got an English bike paper which mentioned some rivalry between Sammy Miller and Andrews over who'd get the first 4 stroke trials bike to the Scottish Six Days. I suspect the Yamaha didn't get much farther along than these photos as I've seen no photos or other evidence that the bike was completed.

cheers,
Michael

By the look of the frame near the swingarm pivot and at the steering head, they started with an OW10 frame

Yes, I did spot the 500. You get another look at the end of the film as well. Looks like it had some type of "air" shocks on it?
