Interestingly I just drained the forks and found 300cc in each leg. This I had sorta worked out anyway cos I had a new 1 litre bottle and there was 400 cc left. Anyway I then found a Penton owners forum and they had a list of forks from mid 70 Penton / KTM models. They suggest 220cc. So I'm going for 200/leg and will add a bit more if required (easier to put in than take out!)Still going with 15 mm of pr load. Thanks for input so far guys. Take her for a spin tomorrow. J

Yeah, too much oil Jerry....Any preload between 10mm and 25mm should be fine IF you have the correct length spring. As Pez said, the spring is usually the starting point for setting up your suspension and once that feels right, you can fine tune with oil volume and weight. Those that want even more then start modifying damper rods and valving.
