380 Falta exhaust sleeve
« on: February 18, 2014, 10:54:19 pm »
Can anyone measure up the sleeve in the exhaust port of a falta or 74 cylinder, mine doesn't have 1 & I'll need to make 1 up if I want to use the cylinder.
The port is showing some signs of the sleeve moving about & I'll probably need to do something about it but it's difficult without knowing the original sizes

Tony

CZ380/514
? 514-13-026
? Outlet of the cylinder
sleeve
? Long:33mm
? Outer diameter:44mm
? Inner diameter:50.25mm

Unsure if this is centre port or was the 514 side port . Tony have a falta barrel if you think this is wrong model sleeve

Cheers

514 was the 78ish looking bike, centreport cylinder from memory. Think the port is around 55mm

Tony

Measured my 380 std Falta side port barrel sleeve

OD 51mm
ID 48mm
Length 39mm

Straight sleeve no step
Press in flush at the top of the port lip, bottom of sleeve is about 5mm away from the bottom edge of the port lip, maybe to get the right angle for the pipe , barrel is brand new

Cheers

Thanks Murray.
Might need to do some proper measuring & get a header pipe before starting to make the sleeve, will probably make it stepped like the 514 type which is also what Bertus does from what I've seen
Will be fitted to my 73 which should be okay seeing as efi & piggyback shocks have/are being run in pre75 with no complaints on this side of the tasman

Picked the reed valve Falta cylinder up today, helped shrink-fit the stepped sleeve into the port.
The port was worn 1.5mm or so outwards so the best fix was a sleeve that was the same size as the outside of the header where it fitted into the casting with the external section being the correct size to fit the header
When my piston port Falta cylinder comes back I'll get the same done to it
Now I just have to find the safe place I put the reed cage etc for my GEM unit or spend a day matching my 4V DH unit up to the cylinder. Somehow I don't think I can stomach the thought of spending $400us & postage on a modern V-Force equipped unit from CRHighperformance then getting stung another $150 by customs

Sleeve fitted & decompressor port blocked off
