Riders from the past
« on: February 08, 2014, 02:27:16 pm »

I was recalling some of the good riders from the seventies with a mate the other day and the name Stan Veenstra was mentioned. Does anyone recall his achievements and whether he still plays bikes? He was Brisbane based and rode for several camps including Phil Phew Moto mainly on Suzuki RM125 and 250's.

My recollections of him was how nearly unbeatable he was on his RM125S and RM250A at Tivoli against all the top riders of the day.

When Stan was on he was really on,
saw him win the Qld Championship in Cairns around 1976.
Won all 3 motos, 1st Leg Dry Track,2nd Leg Wet Track and 3rd leg Tacky Track
convincingly defeating Per Kitland and a few other fancied Racers.

Noel Harker will know where Stan is.  I think he said something about him being in the Beenleigh area.  I main memoryI have of Stan, was at dusty meetings you would here someone out to one side of the track going flatout through the dust.  9 times out of 10 it would be Stan.
