3 great memories for me
1996 KRs 750 was on the bench at A&A the motor was on Rays office desk,
Next to the 750 was a 350 twin frame both were original Doug Schwerma frames,
Ten years later I had my original Schwerma ex KR, ex Askland 350 twin,
A week later we are at the Del Mar Mile with two other TZ750 Trackers.
A few days later I was at Wood-Rotax with Ron and Elliott, that Jorgy Norton was in pieces in the rafters above Ron's office
I wish I could find the photos

I swa Jorgy ride the rims off that Norton every Friday night back in the 70's. The engine had THE BEST note on the track.

Alex Jorgenson was the king of Ascot on that Norton. It's got a very trick 3" tube backbone frame. I'm not sure if it was the frame or the 85 hp that made the bike so awesome...I suspect a bit of both + a take no prisoners rider. Ron Wood was and still is one of dirt track racings real innovators and he's tried a lot of different frame ideas over the decades. I guess if the 3"tube frame was a standout innovation everyone would have copied it. As it is though it's a great one off that combined with a ball tearer engine and a great rider won the Ascot Championship 3 years running.

The frame would double as the oil tank, plus add quite a bit of stiffness to the chassis. You can use much thinner tube for the same stiffness if you go to a bigger diameter.

Have to love the cut out in the front downtube for the front wheel, could only see the large diameter tube working with a multi due to how at could affect airflow
There is just something about the flat track bikes that look so right to me

Geez Mick, my old budget RD won't hold a candle to that red one - it's spectacular.
