Coaching - QLD
« on: January 23, 2014, 12:04:06 AM »
Hi all

I am venturing into the world of VMX and excited to do so..... however being "older" (40 something), and not as bullet proof as I was in my teens..... I am thinking that some practice and coaching would not be lost on me.

Can anyone recommend any good coaches / practice tracks etc..... (Brisbane / SE Queensland based)

Thanks
Charlie

The only triple jumps he would have been doing are the hop, skip & jump.

If you ring up Motorcycling Qld they can put you in touch with a host of coaches, they have riding schools all the time. In the near future I may get a well know former coach to run a school for VMXers....I will keep you posted.
QVMX.....Australia's #1 VMX club......leading the way.

This brings up an interesting subject.  Just going to any coach and being included in their school somehow wouldn't work.

How many riders would be interested in a School/s run just for Vintage Riders on a Vintage friendly track.

I had the idea of doing this a couple of months back and forgot about it.  I have a coach or two in mind and venues wouldn't be that hard to arrange.  You can get anywhere licenced for coaching.

Who is interested?

12 months or so now we had a coach/practise motard day at nudgee track thru mc sportsmans..
wasn't difficult to arrange insurance etc etc...
hardest part was getting hold of the then president n hiring track...
which puts money back into the club..
this could maybe be "free" track hire... (just athought) if it was a working bee in morning coach/ride in arvo,,, as first you would have to find the track... its a tad overgrown...
just puttin it out there...

Sounds like a great idea. I was planning to get coaching from Jody Herson, the MX coach at Brisbane's Fort Lytton MX Club.
I would much prefer to be with my VMX mates.
Add me to the list :)

Cheers

I would love to get coaching in NSW.
I was thinking of going to race pace next time my son does but you sort of ride VMX bikes different to moderns.  At least I think you do :)

I have made some tentative inquiries and already have a couple of possible venues.  The next thing is coaches.  I think everyone would prefer older coaches, but we may have to settle for some in the 30s.

I will keep everyone informed.

I'm talking about the SEQ(Brisbane) area, so I think there is a possibility of other people ding something similar in other States.

Sounds positive... can you offer us some info on:

- what sort of numbers would you need?
- would coaching location be Dalby, or else where? (track VMX friendly?)
- what format would a coaching take / look like?
- when would you be available?
- what group rate should interested parties budget for?
- how many hours coaching would this buy? (just thinking Dalby is a bit of a trip so need to make it worth the time invested for all - yourself included of course)

look forward to your thoughts

Charlie
