Johnny Old bikes
« on: January 10, 2014, 11:19:27 am »
I am interested in having a ride at this year's Johnny Old VMX meeting in NZ and wanted to check out the possibilities of either hiring , loaning, or maybe even buying a bike to ride at the event. If anyone is interested , I would even consider a reciprocal loan agreement for an NZ rider/s to maybe use some of my bikes in return, at an event like the Conondale Classic. I have quite a few bikes that I wouldn't mind loaning out, including an '81 Maico 250 and an '83 CR480 Honda. Its about time that I started crossing a few events off my bucket list, before I get too old. I would really like to do the over 50s twinshock at Farleigh Castle VMXDN this year as well, so I might have to contact Dave King to see what my options are. The Unadilla MX Rewind is also on my list, as well as a VMX meeting at Washougal. Its all about having a ride on tracks that I consider to be special.

I will make some enquirys on your behalf , i can gaurantee you a ride on loaners but cant gaurantee the bikes your asking for .

Brad 090 is coming and maybe Nada , hoping tatey can make it as head mechanic .

Bottom line book your fares and pack your gear , liase with Brad if you want as it would be easier to find you blokes one vehicle and collect you from the airport .

Its NZ so no paper work or licencing to deal with just sign an indemnity .

JO is sat April 5th at Levin (google it ) lower north island .

Cheers Bill

Ross the Farleigh des nations is on 13/14 Sept.
I'd love to get back to Farleigh this year Mark and also the MX rewind at Unadilla after spectating at the 2012 Unadilla AMA National it's definitely a track I want to ride!
Would also loke to do a race in NZ one day but it all depends on finances of course..

I think the dates for this years VMXDN are 13/14/15 of September, with entries opening around the first week in February.

Thanks Bill for your reply. I am not really that fussy on what bike I would prefer to ride , as I am more just interested in having a ride on the track and not going all out racing for sheep stations (I'll leave that for you and Nada  ;)). Probably a big-bore or a 250 would suit me better than a 125 though, as I currently weigh in at 100kg  :-[

Yeah John, from looking at the pics from the Johnny Old event, the track seems to be a cracker and possibly the best choice of VMX events to ride in NZ . NZ is a cheap and easy place to travel to as well. The frustrating thing for me ( and I don't want to sound like I am complaining ) is that the Johnny Old is on the same day as the speedway GP in Western Springs, Auckland. I have been to NZ the last two years for the speedway GP ( the Johnny Old clashed in 2012 as well ) and would have loved to take in both events this year.  I might just have to watch a replay of speedway on pay tv.

Unadilla MX rewind is on at the end of May/ start of June.

Agreed its really frustrating  >:( but I suppose there's only so many free dates in the land of the wet weekend  ;D Just to rub salt in the wound the Strolling Bones concert is on the same weekend in Auckland  :(

Rosco the classic nats will be on again next year  ;) Farliegh is a must do though . Iv'e been twice now and will try to go again this year ( but its unlikley ) I havent raced there ( too quick for me ) but the whole event is kick arse  8)

Paris you would hate it , Dogshit capital of Europe  ::) some say they grew trees in the avenues of Paris so the Germans could march in the shade  :-\ Personally i believe the real reason is they stop the dog toffee drying out to quickly as it mask the smell of the locals  ;D

Now Bath (nr Farliegh ) the Mrs could spend a few days there and have a wonderfull time , or if she wants that Euro Wog theme you cant pass Milan  :)

maybe true Uncle Bill - but Nats are in SA - which is close enough for me to get a pass out - and went to Paris last year - so could not disagree with you more about the place  ;D

But maybe I should look at a trip to NZ so I can come and see how fast Craig isn't for myself  >:(

Hey Rosco, Craig has to take some customers to Rolling Stones that night, so he will not be at Johnny Old this year....

I have my wifes 40th that weekend so I can't make it 3 in a row either...  :(

Its a awesome track/event so you should get there!

P.S CT has been in training.... so he hits 3rd gear like me now :)
