YZ250G or YZ250H

    I am just about finished the build of my 250H, and just stripped down the 250G I picked up a few months ago. As I working on it i noticed alot of small differences throughout the bike. Swingarm, forks, tripple clamps, air box, transmission, footpegs and rear hub appear to be the main differences. Just wondering peoples thaughts on the two years. The G i picked up is definatly the best condition of the 4 YZ250's I have picked up so far

I pulled the 250 motor out of mine and put a IT465 motor in it .The 250 was a rocket and difficult to ride .Would be real quick with someone faster than me on it .I like the big flywheel torque of the 465 .

YZhilly, is that why I can't hang on to my G? Just spent plenty on suspension and the thing still wants to throw me off!

The differences that matter:
Steering angle is steeper on the H;
G has a slimmer fuel tank;
H has a bigger rear brake;
H has 43mm forks and TLS front brake;
G has the lovely 6-speed gearbox.

Two positives for the G, three for the H (I reckon the rear brake is irrelevant).

Personally, if I was to build one up, it would be an H fitted with a G tank and gearbox.

   Thanks for the info everyone. My thoughts were to build one of each so I had an option on different tracks, With the shorter wheelbase I would think that G may turn quicker and have to try the 5 to six speed. At least its easy enough to swap out the forks and swing arm to make both bikes more similar. My H is almost done, just waiting for a front number plate that's in the mail

Sorry Nathan, you need to be corrected here! A stock YZ250H did NOT come with a TLS. The 465 G & H did, wasn't till the J model the 250 came with TLS ;-)

Correct Ted, they are a single pull out of the box. I don't no why it shows the other TLS also, but I should know I have 3 of them. In the manual it also shows single pull.

yzhilly, I just picked up a IT465 roller for the same reason, I am worried how peaky the 250 is as my 78 IT400 was easy to ride both on the track and the bush.
