Hybrid project
« on: January 04, 2014, 09:08:33 am »
was thinking of looking at the merits of a kdx250 engine into a xr250. great engine and the xr is a goodturning well braked bike. (84 model) down a bit on go and with some reliability issues.

any thoughts?

I would only be interested if the dx engine will fit within the xr frame parameters generally, not interested in a major cut and shut.

I think the xr engines where stressed members so you would have to attach the kdx lower frame cradle...now what where you saying about a major cut and shut?

Measurements from the top front engine mount hole ( for top of engine mount on the horizontal tube )wich one end of the tape stays on, then rotateing the tape  counter clockwise in a sweeping arc the centres are -
1) the 2 front engine mount holes  290mm - 315mm
2) bottom front engine mount 395mm
3) bottom rear engine mount 485mm
4) top rear engine mount 340mm

centre measurement from front engine mount hole to bottom rear is 295mm
