Bultaco Mk11 250

Pulled my father's 78' Frontera 250 out of the shed after 20 years of it sitting in there(Does have light surround, I took it off). He bought the bike in milk crates.
Rebuilding most of the bike, hope to take it to some events with my dad. Also turns out this bike is a 6 speed.






Before and 1/2 way through


Have to sort out timing, sort out the carb and other small things
Might be interested in parts for this model if anyone has some

i'm struggling with the 2nd picture up  :o,i've had too much merlot i'm thinking  ;D,is it gear,or primary chain driven 6 speeder?, :P

I reckon these Fronteras are a great looking bike but part of that look is the original tank.
I like the alloy tank but I'm not sure I would use it on this model, still, it's your build so do as you please.
The rebuild seems to be coming along nicely, will we see you both at a Vic Vinduro this year?

Really want to go to some Vinduros but I don't know of many that are in/close to QLD (I live near Brisbane)
Primary chain 6 speed, compared bottom end it to a PURSANG 125 and there are heaps of small differences throughout it.




Good looking 370, any idea on the numbers made?
The 250 motor was running a 125 flywheel and motoplat for some reason, took some serious digging through the shed to find the original.

There is a pin hole on the top of the original fuel tank, I am going to use the aluminum tank until I repair it
Need to fix the hole and put some sort of sealer though the fuel tank.

I am not 100% sure if I am going to repaint tank and side panels, as I don't want to worry about damaging the paint just yet.

I am aiming for this bike to be as original as possible, so far just about all the bolts in the bike are ''Bultaco'' bolts.
Missing a few things on it, like the light, speedo center stand and original shocks

Going to see if I can get spark today, but its bloody 42°C

Merlot's a very metrosexual wine choice Mick...I always had you figured for  a flagon port kind of bloke ::).  How'd you go with that silver metalflake Trackmaster tank Jimmy took up to you Mick? Is it a suitable mould candidate without flucking up it's nice gelcoat ?

Not getting any power from the bloody thing, going to get my Dad to look at it.
Hopfully the motoplat hasn't shi* itself.

I've got a few spare tanks in my garage, as I am doing up the same bike and also a Gold medal..(mk10), let me know what you need.   Those old fibreglass tanks deteriorate and need to be re- fibreglassed from the inside as well as the outside.    I've also got a spare seat with new cover. That is great! Roughly how much would you be after for a tank just for future reference? I guess it would allow me to fully repair one.

My seat base isn't the best, going to require some welding and some fiberglass to strengthen it up.

I am trying to keep the bike cost down to a minimum .

Plastics, genuine seat cover, fork seals, rings and a filter are the things I have bought
(guess there is really not that more anyway).



Would like to see some pictures of your bike just to see how everything should look on it.

Looks like the 250 motoplat isn't working, not getting power from it.
Going to put the 125 flywheel and motoplat back on it until I can figure out why   :-/ Maybe that is the reason it had it on in the first place.

Going to be a really snappy bike
