Best front tyre for deco?

Need a front tyre for my 1980 RM250 to do some DT next year. I run a Motoz X-Circuit on my modern and reckon it's brilliant, but just wonder what else works?

any decent brand  tyre
soft with knobs on the edge of the tyre
deco is like sandpaper and does not take long to where the edge off
then you will lose the front easily
with me( old and slow ) 2-3 meetings after that use tyre for trail riding only regards al

Yeah a hard track tyre...Soft knobs spaced closer together

Dunlop K180 Flattrack 300x21 but it needs to be grooved to get it just right,

I didn't know you could get a tyre like that K180.

This is it? Interesting, very much like the US style flattrack tyres... I understood those don't really work on our surfaces?


They tend to keep our local track (Canberra) pretty wet, would that tyre work?

I've been using Motoz X-Circuit which I really like, it seems to hold up well and is especially good when it's dryish or blue groove:


How about the Dunlop MX71?


Someone recommended the Kenda Triple Sticky, I've never heard of that either:

Not in the wet, but the tyre works great at Barleigh Ranch after it has been grooved in half
K180s are DOT Street Legal so they are not race soft, but once cut they flex, get hot, open up and start working

Kenda Millville sticky got good patern close knobs on the edge and work well

My opinion, for what it's worth, the best front tyre for Dirt Track has to be 2 ply rubber.........after 30 years away from the track I chose Mitas 2 ply Trials Tyre for my SC 500........as we know, the bike handles ordinary, but the front hangs on beautifully !!....

 Not a front but interesting new release from motoz - soft and wide Centre row should provide good drive but harder in sidewalls than a trials tyre so will it get side grip for dirt track?

I like the look of that MOTOZ tyre for rear use, I just wonder if the land/sea ratio would satisfy the scrutineers?

In fronts, a Dunlop MX71 (the pic above is an MX31 soft terrain tyre) I think would be good, or a Pirelli hard.

That Motoz is interesting isn't it? I ended up with an MX71 on the front of the RM250 and it's brilliant. Went to a new MX52 on the modern YZF, that seems to work well too. I'm wondering about the Geomax AT81...

 I have a Carlsbad up front and Michelin x11 at the rear.  I Have good fun and is shore footed on the track ask Pancho.
I was at Bathurst and a good number of bikes ran the same combo. I will ride with MAXXIS next year. Will just have to adjust riding style. I Will NOT put a TRIALS OR KNOBBY on a FRAMER US TRACKER STYLE BIKE.
