My hybrid 74 MT

Total build from the ground up.... CR head, barrel, ignition, fork internals, swing arm, 76 CR airbox, CR alloy fuel tank, NOS DG pipe, 76 CR carby. Polished alloy rims and fork lowers. Early Yamaha IT175 lights to make it more enduro friendly and a euro bike look.

Thanks.... I get a buzz out of building bikes. The MT was a real mess, but it ran. I didn't realise when I picked the MT up that it didn't have the ID tag on it. And with all the chrome being so rusty I decided to use my spare CR250M bits and pieces to build an MT better than what Honda did. In effect, It could be the first MR250....

I'm pretty impressed with that little bike TBM, it'd be a great pre 75 vinduro bike...if they had a pre 75 class that is  . Many years ago a bloke in my club built a CR/MT for enduros that performed really well in events like the Forest 300 and similar early enduros....he used a CR engine in an MT roller with the alloy CR tank and it even had an XL front wheel like yours does. They could be twins .

A Gem alright
And a perfect example of where the Js just don't get it
They build something just right
then drop all their balls
And run off in the wrong direction
Look how long it took them to build a real Thumper that worked and handled correctly.
The list of their classics is long
The list of their stuff ups is longer
You can start with your MT/MR above
Continue with the MR50 that still should be in production today cause 5 year olds are still 5 year olds
Only yesterday I was trying to convince an early TS250 owner to build it like a TM because a registered TM will look so good,
Far better than any mid 70's TS ever did.
Anyway I'm sure your MT will be a google images gem.

Thanks Firko.... There are a few die hards who ride the vinduros on early bikes and this bike would be perfect for vinduro. Or pre75 mx for that matter. I did a few laps around the broadford GP track on it at HBBB last year and it performed really well. Somehow the power delivery is smoother than the light switch CR.... Must be the combination of the pipe and '76 keihin carb I reckon as the MT no longer has the flywheel effect of the original magneto..... but it still lofts the front wheel at ease when wanted.

Forgot to mention I made folding tip gear and brake levers and put the Protec chain guide on. The MT also has the CR seat on it as well as it is heaps more narrow than the MT bench seat

Here's the air box mounted. If you know your '76 elsinore, the air filter entry is on the opposite side. I reversed the access so the pipe doesn't need to be removed to service the filter.
